ABOUT KEN ADEG

Trusted neighborhood stores.
A closer connection.

We are building Ken Adeg to connect Somali halal grocery stores with the families they serve, starting in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

WHY WE STARTED

A gap we saw firsthand.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, our founder saw families turn to major retailers for online grocery shopping while many Somali halal stores in his community did not offer the same access. Ken Adeg grew from a simple idea: families should be able to find familiar foods online from the neighborhood stores they trust.

OUR MISSION

Bring our community online.

Our mission is to make eCommerce more accessible to independent Somali halal grocery vendors and the families who shop with them. We are building with community feedback, keeping local businesses and culturally familiar foods at the center.

FOR GROCERY STORES

Your store. More ways to connect.

We aim to help vendors build an online presence through a shared marketplace, product catalog setup and hands-on onboarding support. Our pilot will help us understand what stores need to manage their catalogs and serve shoppers online.

FOR SHOPPERS

Familiar foods, easier to find.

Our prototype lets you browse groceries, search for products and build a basket. We are testing how to make those steps clear and convenient, so families can connect with trusted local stores. The current experience is a demonstration; no real food orders are fulfilled.

OUR FIRST PILOT

Built together, step by step.

We have a working prototype, and one local grocery store has verbally agreed to participate in a pilot. We will use feedback from the store and shoppers to improve the experience before expanding. Ken Adeg is developed by Ken Kano Consulting Inc.

ACCESS AND WHAT COMES NEXT

Preparing for January 2027.

Our planned launch date is January 1, 2027, subject to pilot testing and operational readiness. Our goal includes online EBT payment access through approved arrangements. EBT processing is not currently connected or live; required approvals and payment connections must be completed before it is offered.
